Myteys are born with an innate desire to help and save others, and they do this by changing into different forms, each with its own specific power. New forms are unlocked via adaptation: experiencing certain environmental conditions that trigger a specific form. Those conditions can be biomes, weather patterns, natural disasters, or other physical conditions. Once a Mytey enters a new form, it unlocks that form for use any time, anywhere.
